15th Century Italian Doublet

Photo: Miles sporting an Italian Renaissance doublet.

This is the style of doublet worn underneath most men's garments of the mid- to late-15th Century. Laced together at the front and holding up the hose with points through the waistline, it was generaly worn underneath a houppelande, but in the Italian city states, it became popular to wear them without the extra layers. Wheter this was for the climate, or because young men of the Renaissance liked to show off their lovely figures and legs in keeping with aesthetic vision of the day, I'm not totally sure, but it's a very nice, and oft-ignored style.
